About Us

Our mission is to help every Christian be a Bible student.

That's been true of College Press Publishing Company since Don Dewelt started it in 1959. We partner with churches, Bible colleges, and Christian leaders to bring doctrinally sound biblical resources into the hands of growing Christians worldwide.

Our Story

College Press was founded on a conviction that hasn't changed in over 60 years: every Christian should be equipped to study the Bible for themselves — not just hear it taught, but know it, wrestle with it, and grow through it. That conviction shapes everything we publish. Since 1959, it has led us to publish over 900 books — commentaries, curriculum, and discipleship resources trusted by generations of pastors, teachers, and everyday Christians. We're proud to be part of the Restoration Movement — publishing within the Christian Churches and Churches of Christ tradition — and our flagship work, the College Press NIV Commentary Series, remains the only complete Restoration Movement Bible commentary set in print today.

What We Publish

• Bible commentaries — serious scholarship, written in plain language so pastors, teachers, and everyday Christians alike can study Scripture with confidence, including our complete Commentary Sets

• Sunday School curriculum — age-specific, built for real classrooms

• Academic and ministry leadership resources — for pastors, professors, and church leaders

• Small group and discipleship studies — for churches building deeper community

• Devotional books — for personal growth and daily walk with Christ

• Spanish-language resources — extending our mission to Spanish-speaking believers

Each one serves the same purpose: helping the person who reads it become a better student of the Bible.

Why It Matters When You Buy Direct

College Press is a for-profit publisher with a nonprofit heart. Revenue from every book sold here helps to facilitate Literature and Teaching Ministries, our sister ministry, which carries this same mission — helping every Christian be a Bible student — to pastors and believers in over 100 languages across dozens of countries who have little access to sound biblical teaching in their own language. When you buy directly from College Press, you're helping fund that work.

Our Commitment

Every title we publish is chosen deliberately — not for trend or volume, but because it will help someone, somewhere, become a better student of the Bible. That's been true since 1959, and it's true of every book on this site today.

A word from our President:

From my first days at Ozark Christian College in the late '80s, I've had College Press books in my hands — back then, it was the "Old Green Commentaries" that held a place in my library. As the years went by, the Lord called me to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, and I kept an eye on College Press the whole time. Then came the publishing crisis of 2008, and it seemed College Press just faded away.

In 2020, the Lord moved my family back to the USA and put me in place to lead Literature and Teaching Ministries (LATM) in Joplin. That's when I discovered College Press was alive and kicking — and that LATM now owned it. Once settled into leading LATM, I could see that bringing College Press back to thriving was a task that needed to be done. So in 2023, I took the helm. Since then — teaming with great support staff, Evan and Melissa — College Press has published 20 new titles, reformatted the interior and covers of our 11 most popular titles, and shifted to a streamlined ordering, processing, and fulfillment system, all while keeping our commitment to publish only books that are doctrinally sound and rooted in a historically proven hermeneutic.

College Press Publishing remains utterly committed to the Lord and His Word, regardless of societal shifts or the cry of the masses to compromise historical truth. We'll live that out by fostering our current in-print list (over 160 titles), reclaiming backlist titles that incredible advances in printing technology have made possible again, and creating new titles and series meant to strengthen the Body of Christ so it can flourish no matter the condition of the world around it.

God bless you — and I hope you, too, will become a better Bible student through College Press.
